Charitable hearts *July – September*

charitable hearts

Oh yes, my heart was filled with joy with the efforts for our Sleepy Magic School this past couple of months.

On September 6th, I had the pleasure of running my first charity event – The Gold Light Women’s Clothing Drive. It was such a fun and successful day and what truly made it work was the support and help from family and friends. They donated their new or nearly new clothes, shoes, accessories, bags etc and I created a pop-up shop at my house.photo 1-1

photo 1-4I put on some champagne and nibbles and everyone had a great time socialising while shopping.

Not only did we get hundred and hundreds of clothes items but my mates also were very generous and donated wonderful prizes for the raffles.   I created four unbelievable raffle packs each with a Sleepy Magic book (the heART and soul pack, the summer goddess,  the business babes pack and the lady luxe pack) that went like hot cakes.

Wphoto 4-4e had the pleasure of the head of Room to Read Australia, Chantal Lewis, join us for the day.  She said a few words about my Gold Light Project and how our efforts were going to change not just a few children’s lives in Nepal but generations of lives.  She is an amazing inspiration and it is wonderful working with people like her.

I am so grateful for so many supporting this mission.  Drum roll please…we raised an amazing $2,771.50.

On the same weekend I got a text message from Jess, one of the first Sleepy Magic and Gold Light kids (read her lemonade story here). She made $250 in a garage sale and donated $131.25 to our school.  She even made posters informing her buyers of her intentions.  This blew me away, and she called me a drama queen when I went over the top with my gratitude.  How can I not be over the top about a 9 year old girl cultivating her power by giving to others.  You go, Jess!  garage sale

So along with the proceeds of the Sleepy Magic book from July to September we have raised $8,980.94 so far. Our magic tower of books is slowly but surely becoming gold.  If you would like to see or join our efforts please visit our Everyday Hero’s page here. Thank you everyone!booktower poster sept 2015 smaller
